Does Habitat for Humanity give houses away?
No. Habitat builds homes for qualified homebuyers who pay an affordable monthly mortgage. These mortgage payments help Habitat build more homes for low-income homebuyers in your community.
Does Habitat for Humanity International give money to build houses locally?
No. Most people believe Habitat for Humanity International provides funds to your local Habitat to build homes. Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity is responsible for raising our own funds through local grants, donations, sponsorships, fund raising activities or retail sales through the ReStore.
Can I donate for a local build through Habitat for Humanity International?
Yes. However, Habitat International takes a percentage of each donation earmarked for Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity so we do not receive the entire amount of the donation. If you do not designate your donation to go to Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity, Habitat International keeps 100% of the donation. If you wish to support your local Habitat’s mission, please donate directly to Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity.
